Israel Thanks Trump As Iran Sanctions Take Effect

Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman welcomed US sanctions that took effect Monday targeting Iran’s oil and financial sectors, calling it a “critical” blow to Tehran’s actions in the region.
“President (Donald) Trump’s bold decision is the sea-change the Middle East has been waiting for,” Lieberman said in a statement.
“In a single move, the United States is dealing a critical blow to Iran’s entrenchment in Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, Iraq and Yemen. President Trump, you’ve done it again! Thank you.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday also thanked Trump for the sanctions against his country’s main enemy.
The measures described by Washington as “the toughest sanctions ever” follow Trump’s controversial decision in May to abandon the multi-nation nuclear deal with Tehran.
They aim to significantly reduce Iran’s oil exports — which have already fallen by around one million barrels a day since May — and cut it off from international finance.
Israel had long opposed the Iran nuclear deal, saying it was too limited in scope and timeframe.
It also said the lifting of sanctions allowed Iran to finance militant groups and its own military actions.
Israel is particularly concerned with Iran’s involvement in neighbouring Syria and has pledged to keep it from entrenching itself militarily there.
The other parties to the nuclear deal — Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia — opposed the US move and say the accord is working as intended in keeping Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons for now.

New minimum wage: What Ngige said after labour leaders boycotted meeting with FG

Sen. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment has said organised labour would attend a meeting with the federal government on the contentious new minimum wage on Monday. He spoke Sunday night in Abuja after labour leaders failed to show up for the scheduled meeting. “They are not here today and they gave excuse why they are not here”, Ngige told newsmen. “We also want to say that we do not support the State governments’ N22,500 proposal and we have also said so. “We also have our own figure and the Tripartite Committee meeting will look at it and the outcome of the Monday’s meeting will be a consensual, I am sure of that, ” he said. EPL: Mourinho singles out one Liverpool player for praise after Man United’s 3-1 defeat

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has singled out Liverpool left-back, Andrew Robertson for praise after his side were defeated 3-1 at Ansfield. Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners in the big game. It was goals from Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri that finished United off at Anfield. However, Mourinho made special mention of Robertson after the game. The Scotland international was superb once again for Liverpool. Robertson is now one of the first names on manager Jurgen Klopp’s team sheet, and Mourinho was suitably impressed by him today as well. The Portuguese was quoted by journalist Melissa Reddy, on Caughtoffside, as saying that he felt tired out after watching Robertson’s energetic display.
