Labour Leaders Shun Meeting With FG Over Minimum Wage

Leaders of the organised labour have failed to attend the meeting convened by the Federal Government to continue negotiations on the national minimum wage for workers in the country.
However, the government continued the dialogue with the organised private sector at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, on Sunday in Abuja.
Mr Mustapha was joined by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, as well as the Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed.
The meeting followed a statement credited to Dr Ngige who revealed that the negotiation would be trailed by another meeting of the National Tripartite Minimum Wage Committee on Monday.
He had appealed to all members of the committee to attend the meetings in the interest of the nation and to find a solution to the minimum wage impasse.

New minimum wage: What Ngige said after labour leaders boycotted meeting with FG

Sen. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment has said organised labour would attend a meeting with the federal government on the contentious new minimum wage on Monday. He spoke Sunday night in Abuja after labour leaders failed to show up for the scheduled meeting. “They are not here today and they gave excuse why they are not here”, Ngige told newsmen. “We also want to say that we do not support the State governments’ N22,500 proposal and we have also said so. “We also have our own figure and the Tripartite Committee meeting will look at it and the outcome of the Monday’s meeting will be a consensual, I am sure of that, ” he said. Mr Joe Ajaero, President, United Labour Congress (ULC) told NAN that members of the organised labour got the invitation to the meeting late. “But hopefully, we will be around for tomorrow’s (Monday) meeting by 11a.m,” he said. EPL: Mourinho singles out one Liverpool player for praise after Man United’s 3-1 defeat

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has singled out Liverpool left-back, Andrew Robertson for praise after his side were defeated 3-1 at Ansfield. Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners in the big game. It was goals from Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri that finished United off at Anfield. However, Mourinho made special mention of Robertson after the game. The Scotland international was superb once again for Liverpool. Robertson is now one of the first names on manager Jurgen Klopp’s team sheet, and Mourinho was suitably impressed by him today as well. The Portuguese was quoted by journalist Melissa Reddy, on Caughtoffside, as saying that he felt tired out after watching Robertson’s energetic display.
